Question Quickly Zoom SecureCRT Fonts While Presenting

I often am projecting my SecureCRT sessions for team meetings and I have yet to find an easy way to quickly make the fonts look readable for attendees.

Is there a quick way to "zoom" in on my sessions so people in the room can actually see what is on the screen?

I'd like to be able to quickly switch back to the default font size for my normal work.

I tried using the Appearance, Font..., and changing font sizes, but I ended up with Huge jagged-edged fonts that only displayed half the letter on each line of the screen. I'm using 6.2.3 on Windows XP.

What would be *fantastic* is using Ctrl-Plus (Ctrl-+) like you can in a web browser to zoom into the page step at a time.

Any help/advice is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Dan

Hello Dan,

This functionality is not currently available in SecureCRT.

I have added this thread to two feature requests in our product enhancement database that seem appropriate:
  • Option to change font and font size from the toolbar/shortcut keys
  • Add ability to zoom in on text using the Ctrl key and Mouse wheel
Should a future release of SecureCRT include this feature, notification will be posted here.

If you prefer direct e-mail notification, contact support@vandyke.com and include "Feature Request - Forum Thread #10352" in the subject line.

To minimize the jagged appearance of the fonts (when using the manual method to change fonts you described), enable Use ClearType to smooth edges of screen fonts in the Terminal / Appearance category of SecureCRT's Global Options (if not already enabled).

This has been implemented in a pre-beta version of SecureCRT for Windows and Mac. The zooming can be controlled using the keyboard or the scroll wheel. If you would be interested in trying it, please send email to me at Maureen.Jett@vandyke.com.

Implementing this feature without an option for to disable it is very tricky.....

Please make this feature optionally so everyone could decide if he want have it active or not.

Because the Problem is:

ALT GR and the Key +(~*) which I am primary using for print the sign ~ (that is the symbol for users home).

Now every time i am using ~ the font is zooming in!

best regards

fred

Hello Fred,

Hello,

The ability to disable zooming with the mouse scrollwheel is now available in a newer (pre-release) build of SecureCRT.

If you would like to try the new build, please send an email to support@vandyke.com and include "Attn Brenda - Forum Thread #10352" in the subject line.

If not writing from the same email address used for your Vandyke Software download account, please include that email address, along with whether you need:
  • Integrated installer or non-integrated
  • 32-bit or 64-bit
  • Windows, Mac or Linux

CescureCRTMouse Wheel Font Size Scrolling

It is now May 2016 and I am running Version 7.3.6 (x64 build 963) and, when I first installed SecureCRT, it seemed to me that it honored the mouse wheel font scrolling but lately has "delcined to do so".

(1) Is this feature implemented?

(2) How is it enabled/disabled?

..plus any other inside dope you can provide in this incredibly obtuse "support forum".

Thank you.

Hello k6whp,

In your version of SecureCRT, there is only one configuration option in Global Options (in the Terminal / Advanced category) for session zooming:
  • Disable session zooming with mouse scrollwheel
In version 8.0, a second option was added to the same category, so there are:
  • Disable session zooming with mouse scrollwheel
  • Disable session zooming with keyboard shortcuts
Do you have Disable session zooming with mouse scrollwheel option *enabled*?

If so, if you *disable* the option, do you get the expected results?

It's now December 2019, and I'm using the latest SecureCRT. I want to somehow zoom in or out. I looked for the option mentioned in the last email in the thread but it does not seem to be part of the options (anymore?)? Is there a way to quickly zoom in or out / change the font size on-the-fly? Thanks, Simon

Hi SimonHF,

The "disable zooming" settings are still available in SecureCRT's Global Options in the latest version:

Can you please tell me a little more about how you are trying to zoom in and out?

You should be able to zoom in or out by holding your control key (Ctrl) and scrolling your mouse wheel or by using the zoom in/out keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl + +/-)

Do either of those methods work for you?

Hmmm... Those options do not appear to be shown for me?! Please see attached screen shot.

Also, the ctrl + +/- also does not work for me. Just types a + or a - ...

Any ideas?

P.S.: I am running the Linux version of SecureCRT if that makes any difference? I attached a screen shot of the version pop-up FYI.

Hi SimonHF,

My apologies! I made the assumption that you were running on Windows!

Unfortunately, the ability to zoom is not supported by the Linux version. I have captured a feature request on your behalf to add this functionality.

We will be sure to post here if this functionality is implemented. If you would prefer direct notification, please send an email to support@vandyke.com, with ****ATTN: Feature Request, Forum Thread #10352**** in the subject field.
