Hi, I am trying to use X11 forwarding to a windows terminal server using Xming. As I have several users I am using a script to alter the DISPLAY variable so I can have multiple servers running. This all works great except securecrt will only connect to DISPLAY:0 and not to any other display i.e. DISPLAY:1. With Putty it reads the environment variable for DISPLAY and uses that but securecrt does not do this. My question is how to I pass a non zero display back to securecrt?

Hi peteral,
Thanks for the post. SecureCRT does indeed work differently than Putty. Rather than use an environment variable, SecureCRT looks to its own configuration folder and files. I have created a feature request to add the ability to look to a DISPLAY environment variable rather than use the configured options. Should we add this we will post to this forum thread. If you would like to be notified directly, please complete and submit the form at the following location: Submit Feature RequestIn the meantime, you can configure the session to use a specific local display using the following instructions: To edit a session .ini file: The line to modify is:The number will be specific to the display port you want to use. Does this help you accomplish your goal? |

Hi All,
If anyone is interested, it is possible to configure SecureCRT to run a logon script which could get at a display environment variable and set the port. You can configure a Logon script: in the Connection / Logon Actions category of the Session Options dialog. The script which could be a logon script is attached. |

The ability to specify the X11 display options in the GUI has been added to a pre-beta version of SecureCRT. Please email me at Maureen.Jett@vandyke.com if you would be interested in trying it.
