I love the tab support. One addition I would recommend: CTRL-W to close (disconnect) a tab. That would really help.

Can there be a CTRL-T hotkey to open up a new tab? It would be great cause I'm so used to using that hotkey in firefox.

I mapped Alt+W to close a tab and Alt+D to duplicate the current session (Alt+C opens the connect dialog which can be set to open a session in a new tab instead of a new window). I use the Alt key combinations because the Ctrl key is often used by software running on the server. You can map keys in the session options -> Terminal -> Emulation -> Mapped Keys. If you want to make certain key combinations global for all sessions just map the keys in the default session and apply to all session (the default session is accessible in global options -> General -> Default Session -> Edit Default Settings).

Back when SCRT 5.0 itself was in the Alpha (then later Beta) stages, I recall reading and commenting on using the default Firefox open tab/close tab hotkeys since mostly everyone that uses Firefox knows them.

As DaCypher said, many server-side programs such as Pico/Nano use CTRL+W (Search) as a key for something. I agree that using the ALT+[key] is a better idea.

I agree, control-modified keys are a bad idea, since so many of them are used in (for example) editors. (For that matter, 'meta' - that is, alt-key passthrough - is used in enough places that it's handy.)
