Have you tried the newest (beta) release, SecureCRT 6.7?
While the timing is the opposite of what you want (blank tab first, then supply ip/hostname), using the new
Connect Bar might meet your needs.
In the Connect Bar, valid ad hoc sessions can be connected (similar to command-line) via syntax such as that listed below:
hostname
ssh2://username:P@ssw0rd@ip_address
telnet://ip_address
ssh2://ip_address:Port /FIREWALL "My Firewall"
/S "My Session"
A future release will likely allow just the session name to be typed and not require the preceding
/S.
I have also added this thread to a feature request in our development database to make new tabs more browser-like. Should a future release of SecureCRT include this feature, notification will be posted here.
