SecureFX can I update the timestamp?

Using secureFX to copy an old file from one server to another can I have secureFX update the file with the current date and time when I place the file?

Example: program.sh is created in dev it will have the timestamp for when it was last updated.

When I copy the file to Prod I want the deployment date for the timestamp.

When I copy the files now the creation timestamp is preserved.

Hello shadley,

What version of SecureFX are you using? (Help / About SecureFX...)

What protocol are you using for the uploads?

shadley 03-12-2014 12:14 PM

version is 2.2.8 and we use sftp for the protocol.

Hello shadley,

That's a fairly old version of SecureFX (circa 2005).

The SFTP version that is negotiated between client and server might be a consideration with respect to what is even possible.

Could you send the SecureFX log of the connection as an attachment to an email to support@vandyke.com and reference "Attn Brenda - Forum Thread #11425" in the subject line?

Please make sure to redact any sensitive data.

I have no idea where to look for the FTP log. Can you give me an idea for where I might look?

I found out that we do have access to secure FX 7.1 protocal will still be SFTP does that version have the option to set the timestamp when we transfer the file?

Hello shadley,

Sorry, I was referring to the SFTP version that is negotiated, not SecureFX version. :)

I have added this thread to a feature request in our product enhancement database for the ability to have files uploaded using SFTP to be timestamped by the server, and not keep the client-side timestamp. Should a future release of SecureFX include this feature, notification will be posted here.

If you prefer direct e-mail notification, contact support@vandyke.com and include "Feature Request - Forum Thread #11425" in the subject line.

An option to have files uploaded using SFTP to be timestamped by the server, rather than using the client-side timestamp, has been added to a pre-beta version of SecureFX. Please email me at Maureen.Jett@vandyke.com if you would like to try it.
